I was reading security protection jobs and it read that you could not be older then 37 years of age at the time of employment. It also read about military....my question is, I'm retired military and I will be 56 year of age can I apply for a position with US Department of State in the Security Protection field. Thank you.

As stated in the (now closed) vacancy announcements for the Security Protective Specialist positions, the age limitation does not apply to preference eligible Veterans. For further questions on that position, please send a posting to the Diplomatic Security forum.
