Re: MS Office Specialist Certification

OMS Candidate(s)

Why would you want to waste your time and certify in an outdated software version. I can clearly see that you are not too savvy on Information Technology best practices; so let me elaborate. Microsoft Word 2007 end of support date is 10/25/12. (Add 12 months to the date the last service pack was available which was 10/25/11)

Once a product reaches its end of support date, there will be no more security updates or patches for that software. Microsoft will no longer support the software. Any security flaws will not be fixed. Information Security Officers will not allow an insecure product on their network for too long because it is a security risk. Hence, they will promplty remove and upgrade to the latest version of Office 2010 which Microsoft does support.

It is only a matter of time before you will have to use Office 2010, why not certify in the latest and greatest. Otherwise you are just wasitng your time and energy.

If state only wants 2007 for now, its only a matter of time till they will require you to ceritfy in 2010. That is the way IT beast.
