Hello

I'm an accountant at the US embassy of Algeria and i would like to know if i can apply for another position in another US embassy in the world. knowing that i have only the Algerian citizenship.

Should i apply only for " Not Ordinarily Resident (NOR)" Positions? If so . will the Us Embassy provide "work permit" to the employee in the host country?

thank you in advance
Naw

If you would like to apply for a locally-employed position in another country, you may be considered a NOR. The various vacancy announcements describe which categories of individuals may apply.

The U.S. Embassy does not provide work permits for employees who are seeking locally employed opportunities. Individuals interested in becoming locally employed staff must be legally eligible to work in the country of hire in order to apply. This usually means already having a work permit, residency permit, or other documentation required under local labor law.

Have youy considered volunteering for Iraq or Afghanistan?

Interested LES volunteers should first talk to their supervisor, then send an email to Iraq-LES-Volunteers@state.gov to express interest in serving in Iraq and to see what positions are available.
