Is there a list that tells you which posts in Mexico are unaccompanied? Or any lists with this type of information for different posts?

I've read on several blogs that there is a lot of money spent up front before arriving to post, e.g., lodging, automobile transport, etc. Does anyone have an idea of an estimate that one spends to arrive at post? I'd like to be well prepared financially.

Final question, if my spouse decides to not join me right away at training or post, is there a time limit that he would have to join me? Does there have to be a legitimate reason why he coukdnt join me right away? And would State still pay his travel when he is ready to join me?

I appreciate any feedback. Thank you.

Whether posts are accompanied or not changes. You will know when you get the list of posts available for your entering class.

The Department pay for shipment of your effects, including your vehicle. You also get per diem during training. Your first pay check will be about four weeks after you begin training, so you should be prepared for that.

If your husband is on your travel orders, he has several months (it may be as long as a year) to travel to post.

I forgot to ask...what is the weight limit on the automobile that can be transported? I am sure it depends on the post which type of car you can or can't take with you. Thanks.

Yes, it would depend on the post. Some host countries limit the type or age of vehicles that can enter the country. That information will be available to you when it comes time to bid on your postings.
