Dear Sir/Madam:

I am very interested in applying for the Foreign Service Consular Adjudicator position for Portuguese speakers. I have noticed that the application is open for Spanish speakers. Could you please let me know when the opening for Portuguese speakers will be posted?

Thank you very much,

Christianne

Consular Adjudicator - Portuguese application NOW being accepted. PLEASE NOTE: if you are a Citizen of BRAZIL you CANNOT work as a Consular Adjudicator because Brazil will NOT grant diplomatic immunities to its own citizens. Good luck!

I take that as a positive sign of future classes, as someone who applies in March surely has no chance of entry in any potential April class

I have double citizenship (Brazil and USA) and I am also a Gov employee (living in the USA). Can I apply for these positions or I fall under your note about "diplomatic immunities". How does my situation work for this kind of job in the Gov? Thanks

Hi Sergio,

My question is pretty much the same as already posed earlier by Suzanna. I, too, have dual citizenship: Brazilian + American. Brazilian citizenship acquired through birth, whereas, American was thru naturalization. May I or may I not apply for this position? Please kindly clarify.

Thanks in advance!

As has been stated many times on this forum by HR people -- you cannot apply for the Brazil CALNA job if you are a Brazilian citizen (even if you have U.S. citizenship) OR were born in Brazil and renounced your citizenship. Diplomatic immunities and privileges are granted by the country you will work in, and if they see you as their citizen, YOU CANNOT WORK THERE AS A DIPLOMAT!

Best to try and research the forum before asking the same questions over and over. The archives of this forum are a great resource.

Hey, "Visitor", don't be an idiot by answering people in uppercase as a sign that you are yelling at us! If people are still not clear about a certain piece of information and YOU can not handle the job function, then BEST to try and let somebody else do the job.
