I took the Spanish phone test, and was informed that I passed and would be contacted by a scheduler in the next several weeks for the OA.
What do the security and final suitability clearances involve? What can I do to prepare for them?

Thank you.

The Oral Assessment is very competitive and the two hour face to face language test is also tough. It is useful to spend time here.

Your security clearances and final suitability clearance are based on the life you have lived; there is no need for preparation, except to collect the details of your life so that you can fill out the e-QIP Application for a Security Clearance. real

Since neither specialist nor CA/LNA applicants take the FSOT unless they are also interested in one of the generalist FSO career tracks, the FSOT study guide is not particularly useful. On the other hand, it does prepare you for the variety of general knowledge questions any FS employee might be asked.

For clarification purposes, is the 2 hour language test part of the oral assessment? How do we prepare for the OA?

I received an e-mail on March 21st stating that I had passed the language test, and I'm still waiting for the OA invitation. I'm kind of worried because I really don't want to receive an e-mail stating that I have to leave in 2 weeks. Are they flexible in terms of scheduling? I live in Italy, and I would like to give some time of notice at work and make some arrangements prior to my departure. Thanks in advance. R, Pepi

As I've answered someone else a couple of days ago, the Oral Assessment and the two hour language test are separate. You must pass both to continue your candidacy. When you are contacted with a proposed OA date, you will have the opportunity to request something more convenient, within reason and our ability to administer the OA.

An invitation to the OA is not a job offer. You will have to make permanent departure arrangements after you are placed on the Register of Cleared Candidates.

The Oral Assessment, consisting of an online competency test, case management written exercise, and a structured interview runs about four hours. For out of town candidates we attempt to schedule the OA early in the morning and the language test after lunch. Local candidates may have their OA from mid-morning to early afternoon and the lnaguage test the following morning.
