Re: Diplomatic Couriers
The U.S. Department of State's Foreign Service Diplomatic Courier position CLOSED on July 18, 2011. The only time one can apply is during the window of time that a vacancy announcement is open. We do not anticipate that this vacancy announcement will open again until perhaps 2013.Click here (http://careers.state.gov/specialist/vacancy-announcements/dc) to read the previous vacancy announcement and to sign up for e-mail updates.
You should understand that we don't open Vacancy Announcements for the Diplomatic Courier position very often. It is a very small organization within Diplomatic Security. Usually when we hire Diplomatic Couriers (using a Vacancy Announcement) we are hiring as few as 5 to 10 Couriers at a time out of more than a thousand applicants. Often hiring for the few available Courier positions occurs only once every two or three years.
The key is to meet the minimum requirements listed for the position and to score very high on the test (again, we only test those who successfully applied under a Vacancy Announcement and only every couple of years). The highest scoring candidate’s names go on to a list -- when we receive funding and authorization to hire (5 or so Couriers) then we call the top scorers on the list.
