I am currently awaiting the results of my TS background clearance process. I previously held a TS/SCI clearance for a federal job but have since left the position. Does DSS use the prior clearance during their investigation? Basically, would having the previous clearance expedite the process or make it easier/quicker to attain? any information would be greatly appreciated.

Depending on how long ago your previous TS clearance was granted, I believe there is a possibility to bring the clearance up to date rather than start a fresh clearance. Call the number you were initially given at the security clearance office and ask them about it, they are usually pretty helpful.
