What percent of people who get on the SEO register are actually offered a job? The flipside is, what percent roll off after 18 months?

I would like to know this as well. Especially since there seem to be a backlog of positions in DC.

In the past, before 2011, all SEOs on the register got offers as there was a hiring push for them. Now with the budget cuts and all SEO spots full (all that State can afford), for the first time ever many SEO candidates will TIME OUT on the register! There is no more hiring for SEOs in calander year 2012. So if your 18-month clock ends before Jan 2013, you will have to reapply and go through the process again. Sorry!

hmmm, my OA is in April. So, I will only be able to get an offer between Jan and Oct 2013. And the register may be really full then, and not everyone will get an offer.
I hope my language points will bump me up, if I make it on, of course.
Thanks for the reply.

Why did they open up the hiring announcement then? I heard there's already about 30 on the register.

Yes, there are about 30-ish on the SEO register. They opened up the announcement because they are looking at 1-2 years out for EOD (Entry on Duty, better known as your starting hire date). And some people currently on the register will likely timeout soon. When the job announcement opens and people apply, those invited to the OA won't have the OA for many months after they apply, and after clearances it can be many more months before they are on the register. It's all about forecasting future hires. 2013-2014 is the hiring time frame those who applied to the last announcement are looking at. Most people who apply don't EOD until 1-2 years later. It's the government, you gotta learn to hurry up and wait...and wait...and wait...

I imagine State, like any org., wants the best pool of applicants to choose from.
