I'm having a difficult time locating solid information about the overall training schedule. I have my FSI start and end date, but I am unclear on the rest of the training schedule. Does FLETC start immediately afterwords or will there be a gap?
If the question cannot be answered on a public forum, can you please provide me with contact information where I may direct my inquiry?
Thank you in advance. Have a great day.
This inquiry has been forwarded to the DS Training Center for a response. Will get back to you once they respond.
The 3-week FSI orientation ends on a Friday afternoon. Students report to FLETC the following Monday afternoon, so there is ample travel time. Upon finishing the 12-week FLETC course, there is a minimum 2-day travel time allowed to get to the next training location in Summit Point, WV, which lasts 5 weeks. Following that, there is another 5 -6 weeks at the DS training Center in Dunn Loring, VA. Adequate travel time between locations has never been an issue. The whole program lasts approximately 25 weeks start to finish, although this can be a week longer if the training schedule has a lot of federal holidays sprinkled in.
Don't forget High Threat, which is now tacked on to the end of that, which I believe is another five weeks at DSTC.
Are all new agents receiving high Threat training? I thought it was only those going to high threat posts.
Look at the Senate hearing (attached to DS main web page). All new agents, starting Summer 2011, will receive HT training.
I say it's better to get it done with, then have to head back to five weeks of training at a later date.
Anyone hesitant about the box, I'd suggest another career path other than DS.
Are you referring to June 29 with Boswell? I read through the his statement and I didn't see anything about all new agents receiving HT training. Could you point me towards it?
Not to get into the weeds, but pages 2/3 discuss "all agents" receving the course....there is another article detailing this, but will have to dig it up.
Outside of this, a friend of mine, at post, stated that it will be added to all BSAC classes starting this summer. Just makes TDYing new agents for support purposes that much easier--I'd say it's their way of being proactive, vice reactive.
Thank you for the response.
My curiosity stemmed from not yet having received any information about FLETC. I am leaving soon for FSI and I was trying to determine how to pack, and whether I should pack everything at once or try to stop home between training locations and prepare. Your response clears that up. With a two day travel window I'm assuming I will be going from one location directly to the next, and I should just hazard a guess at what supplies I will need for each stage and pack enough for several months.
Thanks again. I appreciate your time.
